I've been wanting to do this for a while, now and finally got all my Studio Art students work photographed and edited and will do the same with my other classes. In my Studio Art class the main objective is for the student to become familiar with the use of various media and techniques in using them. Another main focus is working in progression from drawing media to painting media, and building a portfolio that would be acceptable at any Art school, 14 pieces were created.
I have had various forms of this art class since I started teaching at my current position, but never really had it down until now. Something the owner of the school said, got me to thinking. You have to do something 1000 times before you are an expert. So, I picked a photo from Arizona Highways for the girls to use. They could only use one the entire semester, although two changed mid-semester because of difficulty. For students with more skill and actual talent in art, I gave them photographs of the Grand Canyon, not an easy subject. For the other girls, who had the misfortune for selecting the hard art class, or new girls that I was unfamiliar with, received photos of the Vermilion Cliffs, or other less difficult canyons in Arizona.
Along with lesson plans, I will try to show my curriculum map. I always do the assignments ahead of time as reference so the girls have an example. I will incorporate those examples into the lesson plan as well. Next time, I will show the examples that the girls had to work from.
